What We Collect

We collect the information needed to provide Better RSS:

• Account details, such as your email address, name, and sign-in provider.
• Feed data, including subscribed feed URLs, feed metadata, saved items, reading state, starred items, OPML imports and exports, and generated briefs.
• Billing data handled through Stripe, such as subscription status, plan, Stripe customer ID, and related billing identifiers. We do not store full payment card numbers.
• Security and operational data, such as session cookies, authentication tokens, IP address, user agent, rate-limit events, API-token metadata, and sign-in/device notices.
• Messages or support requests you choose to send us, including information needed to answer the request.

Google Sign-In Data

If you sign in with Google, Better RSS uses Google OAuth/OpenID Connect only to authenticate you and connect your Google account to a Better RSS account. We request basic identity information such as your email address and profile identifier.

Better RSS does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, or other Google Workspace content. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. If we ever need to request additional Google data, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before using that data.

How We Use Data

We use your data to:

• Create and secure your account.
• Sync, refresh, search, and display your RSS subscriptions and items.
• Generate AI-assisted feed discovery results and daily briefs when you use those features.
• Provide paid plans, Stripe checkout, subscription status, and customer portal access.
• Send transactional emails, such as verification codes and password reset messages.
• Prevent abuse, enforce rate limits, investigate errors, and protect the service.

AI Features

Better RSS includes optional AI features for feed discovery and digest generation. When you use those features, the relevant prompt, topic, feed titles, item titles, excerpts, and article content may be sent to the configured AI provider so the feature can return suggestions or summaries. Gemini is the default provider.

AI features are not required to read RSS feeds. You can use the reader without generating a brief or running AI discovery.

Service Providers

We use third-party processors to operate Better RSS:

• Convex for authentication, backend functions, and account/feed data storage.
• Vercel for web hosting and server-side API routes.
• Stripe for checkout, subscription billing, taxes, and customer portal features.
• Resend for transactional email delivery.
• Google for Google sign-in and default Gemini AI feed discovery/digest generation.
• DeepSeek for optional AI feed discovery/digest generation if explicitly configured.
• Apple for Apple sign-in.
• Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection where enabled.

These providers process data only as needed to provide their services to Better RSS and are subject to their own terms and privacy commitments.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers listed above, when required by law, to protect Better RSS or its users, or with your direction, such as when you export OPML or use the API.

Cookies and Local Storage

Better RSS uses cookies and browser storage for authentication, theme preference, session continuity, CSRF protection, and basic product functionality. We do not use third-party ad cookies.

Retention and Deletion

We keep account, feed, item, and billing records while your account is active or as needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and prevent abuse.

You can delete your account from Settings. Account deletion removes your account, subscriptions, items, briefs, API tokens, and billing record from Better RSS, and cancels any active Stripe subscription. Some operational logs, payment records, provider backups, or legally required records may persist for a limited time.

Your Choices

• Export your subscriptions as OPML from Settings.
• Delete your account from Settings.
• Revoke API tokens from Settings.
• Manage or cancel paid subscriptions through the Stripe customer portal.
• Stop using optional AI features if you do not want article content sent for summaries.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including HTTPS, scoped API tokens, server-side ownership checks, rate limits, and provider-managed authentication. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so keep your account credentials and API tokens private.

Children

Better RSS is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Better RSS, contact us so we can delete it.
